In 1985 a collaboration of exceptional
researchers, scientists, and exotic animal caretakers
recognized a need to develop capabilities in
the area of animal nutrition for rare and endangered
species. Prior to this effort, scientific studies
and documented field testing of the nutritional
requirements for these species had been hampered
by a lack of resources, conflicting scientific
directions, inappropriate food manufacturing
technologies, economic motivation, and a lack
of access to collections of animals both in
the wild and in captivity.
By addressing these areas, Marion Zoological
has become a world class provider of foods
for approximately 200 rare and endangered
species of animals. Now supplying foods to
zoological institutions, private and wild
animal collections, and the exotic pet industry,
Marion Zoological ships its products to customers
on four continents.
This success is based upon the exceptional
quality of cooperation among the company's
partners, customers, and suppliers.
Our philosophy is that the world is a shared
environment and all of God's creatures should
benefit from each other's existence.
Therefore, our goal must be to achieve economical
man-made foods that are based upon scientific
methodology and improve upon naturally consumed
foodstuffs.
Without these goals, the role of nutrition
management in preserving rare and endangered
species for future generations will not counteract
the destruction of habitat, abuse, illegal
poaching, environmental chaos, and poor health
care of institutionalized animals that has
led to the WWF endangered species list.
We are proud of our accomplishments and I
encourage you to read and learn more about
our efforts and successes.
